Bass dude

This is my history so far !

Got into music whilst at school. Had mates who all had guitars so I played drums using the school's music dept. kit. Never had lessons but could keep a beat. I was a Police fan and used to play along and pretend I was Stewart Copeland.

Got on to Bass guitar when my parents wouldn't buy me a drum kit but bought me a bass for xmas. That was 1985. Played along to Iron Maiden, Metallica and Scorpions songs till I joined a band called "Tri This" (Yes, a trio). 1986. We played covers from 60's, 70's and 80's, splitting up when guitarist joined The Overlanders/Searchers (Ask your parents).

Then came a rock band called "Broadsword" (formally Legend) playing our own songs. I met my wife at this time when she auditioned as singer. She didn't get the job but got me. (Poor woman)!

Short stint with "Alec and the Alleycats" playing rock and roll and "Bandits at 2 o'clock" playing chart covers and dancing! Joined a band called "Hoodlum" from Dewsbury who used to do regular slots at Bradford Queens Hall supporting The Almighty, Wolfsbane and The Grip.

I then met Oris and Keith (Band of Oz), and we had a band called "Sid Chappati and the Rockin' kebabs", having to change the name when we took part in a battle of the bands competition.

I left to form a trio called "Between worlds" doing our own stuff in the heavier style of Slayer, Prong and Panterra, singing lead vocal as well as playing bass. I left them to join "Band of Oz" playing on and off with them for the next 17 years. Brief moments with "The Shirt" whilst I was also resident Bass player at jam session at Hangovers in Halifax. Next up came "The Bad Back Blues Band" which I left in 1999 but am now back playing with as well as "Rock Junkies".

Played with Nelly (Band of Oz, Jagged Edge, Bad Back Blues) in a cabaret type band called "The Monty" where we used to end the first set by taking our clothes off, Full Monty style. Lots of fun.

Took part in "The worlds biggest band" record attempt at Glasshoughton, Castleford. Graham Oliver from Saxon turned up and took part and the BBC came and filmed it.

Whilst with the Bad Backs, I used to play on the "Blues Train" which ran from Huddersfield to Sheffield and back. Sky TV, Manchester University and BBC Radio 4 have all recorded and interviewed me because of that. Still playing the blues with a band called "Green Mac" doing Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac songs up and down the country.

My influences include:
Geddy Lee, Sting, Flea, Steve Harris, Eddie Jackson.

My fave bands:
Queensryche, Rush, RHCP, Yes, Genesis, Black Sabbath, Status Quo.

Keep Rockin fans !!
